Hi Joe.
Box turtles are around 5"-6" when fully mature.
Russian Tortoises around 8" or a bit smaller.
Which whould make a better pet depends on the c;limate in your area. And what type of enclosure/housing you have planed.
So maybe you could post again with where you live and if the tortoise/turtle would be housed indoors or out.
Box turtles require a humid environment,and are omnivores.
Russian torts a dry environment, they're herbivores.
