Kristen.
Theresa linked a good web site.
You can also join the Russian Tortoise email list from that site. Which I really recommend you do.

It's a very friendly list and will put you intouch with many others who keep Russian Tortoises.

Fish tanks do not make good homes for tortoises at all.

And whatever you do, don't put the fish tank (if you must use one) outdoors in the sun or heat.It will heat up quickly and fry the tortoise

And gravel or grain are not good substrates for any enclosure you might have the tortoise in.Neither offer good taction and could cause all sorts of problems if the tortoise ingests any.

Russian tortoises like to dig so a soil or 50/50 soil/sand is a better idea.

You'll find enclosure info here:

http://www.turtlecafe.net/habitats.htm

Anyway explore all the info at the web site Theresa linked, you'll find links at the bottom of the front page. And join up to the Russian Tortoise email list. Here's that site again:

http://www.russiantortoise.net/

You'll find more info at these sites too:

http://www.tortoisetrust.org/articles/horsfield_habitat.html

http://www.tortoiselife.co.uk/

http://www.sonic.net/~melissk/russian2.html

I've linked another web site that you'll find useful below.

Terry.
