It seems to me that they do really well in the autumn, becomming thicker and blooming right up to the first hard freeze- generally around December. I don't think the need any special fertilizing. you might want well drained soil.
I have tried to feed nasturtiums to Iguansa and most recently Skippy my little russian tortoise. Neither on seemed to interested in them. If you think they are safe for PTS than I'll try them on Zeke.
