: Hi, I have a Spur Thighed & a Lepard Tortise both are 1.5 yrs old. I have made them an out side enclosure that is 6'Lx4'Wx2'H and I'm not sure what type of dirt to put in there. They both like to burrow so that why I made it deep. I thought I would make the bedding 2' deep. I was thinking about D.G. (Decoposed Granite) but my wife thinks that would get to hard. Any advise would help. Thanks Alcade...
Hi Alcade,
Im a big fan of hay with newspaper under it. We get this kind called Coastal thats mostly Bermuda but many ppl use Orchard or Timothy. Any kind will work as long as its not dusty or has the brittle stems like on the Alfalfa.
Some folks like the organic potting soil and play sand at a 60/40 Mix.
Hope that helps,
tcc :)
