I have a captive-bred Bell's hingeback and it has
proved to be a very good pet. He frequently comes
out when I open the door to his enclosure, and will eat from my hand. There are days when he prefers to stay under his log, but most of the time he likes to check things out. He doesn't pull into his shell when I pick him up, and doesn't run off immediately if I put him down on the floor. He's calm and relaxed. In the photo he's only about 6 months old and maybe 2.5" long. That's a nightcrawler that he's eating.

This species will get about 6-8" (from what I've read). He does best if I keep him moderately warm (range of 75-85 in his enclosure) and moderately humid.

I'll put the link to my tortoise page below. Go to the bottom and you will see info on how I keep him and links to caresheets. I know someone in the St. Louis, MO area who might have some bell's hatchlings for sale if you are interested.
