Amdro will devistate the fire ant population, I would only use this in the tortoise pen if I could supervise the complete removal of the Amdro by the ants(it is yellow granuals and could grab the interest of a chelonian). I use the hot water technique inside the pens, and the Amdro solution around the exterior of the fences. I have been very successful in depleting these killers from getting my chelonians and keeping them out of my graze zones.
