: Really, is it okay to give my tortoise some chocolate as a treat???
YOU ARE JOKING, RIGHT?
NO chocol;ate, NO candies, NO cake, NO cheese, NO bread, NO icecream , NO sour cream, IT'S a tortoise, most tortoises are grazing herbivores. NATURAL FOOD PLEASE. Fresh grasses, dandelions, clovers, hibiscus, leafy greens, .Depending on the species a little fruit every now and then. This is a tortoise not a little kid, chocolate and candy will kill it.
Sorry everyone but lately there have been some really strange posts. People dressing their torts up in little outfits and feeding them cheese and sour cream, chocolate and candies.Soaking them in buckets with the water above their heads.
Really strange posts. Most of us know better, but I feel really sorry for the torts owned by these misinformed people.Tortoises enjoy nothing more than grazing peacefully in the yard on fresh grasses etc. Not being dressed in a frilly tu tu and sat down to a tea of bread and cottage cheese!! With bon bons on the side.
Sorry to go off like that!
Terry.
