Hi.
Keep in mind that tortoises don't enjoy being handled.
They are not hands on pets, but prefer to be left pretty much alone.
So the children can watch them, but not handle them too much.
Also be careful of small children dropping the tortoise.
Childrens hands are small, and tortoises can be squirmy.
Another thing to keep in mind is that fish tanks don't make good homes for tortoises. So an enclosure would have to be built.
Big enough for the tortoise, but small enough to fit in the classroom.
The enclosure should have hide boxes, one at least for each tortoise to retreat to and feel secure.

You could build a tortoise table for the classroom.
Check out the link below, it shows a box turtle table, but you could adapt it for tortoises. Leave out the deep water bowl for example, but have a shallow dish instead for drinking.
If you breed the tortoises are you prepared to find good homes for the hatchlings, or keep them?
