Suggestion for packing baby torts to send

Hi-
I recently got a baby tort shipped in its plastic container with some paper towel underneath for bedding. Unfortunately the little guy had managed while digging around to get one back foot and leg tangled in it. The good luck was that I unpacked and discovered it right away and the circulation had not been cut off long enough to do any serious damage, I hope. I realize there is a forum for this and I also posted there, but some of us non-professionals ship too.
What about using some spahgnum moss or other natural bedding when we need to ship?
