I have found that the shell should be solid after a year. This is not normally the case. These guys need a great deal of calcium. I also strongly suggest good heat and hydration. (and diet is a given). I supplement with calcium carbonate at every feeding.

: At what point does a redfoot's shell become completely hard? I've got a 3 month old baby & noticed that his (her?) plastron is still a bit soft in the center. Should I be concerned about this? He's under a "full spectrum" light & gets Reptocal sprinkled over all the greens I feed him & seems to be coming along quite nicely. Thanks for any info!
