The female of my pair has lately taken to occasionally taking nips at the male, who will only nip and gape a little in defense. I asked a question here long ago about whether or not it was possible to have an aggressive female, or if there was no way females do this sort of thing. They are both the same size, but the "girl" has the super-tiny tail, the right shaped rostral plastron scales around the tail, and a much tinier head, much like the new female I got. THe new girl is bigger than either of them, with the tiny tail and a much smaller head than the male, and also the right-shaped plastron scales around the tail.
From this physical evidence, I am still in belief that my little instigator is a girl; and the fact that people answered my last post saying females do sometimes exhibit dominant behavior over males made me even more satisfied with this decision.
Since my newer, larger female has the same characteristics, I feel even more satisfied, and am also under the impression that smaller head size relative to the body is also a female characteristic. Could this be right?
