I have two females. Last year I had 53 eggs. Both torts laid 3 clutches. One egg hatched. I don't have the answer to the question. I will read tonight in my book and try to answer it for you. My male leopard is considerably smaller than the females. I thought that was the reason for the fertility problem.
For turtlegirl, my 28 year old leopard weighs about 30 pounds and is 15 inches long. Roughly about the size of a basketball or a little larger.
: Does anyone know what the average fertilityrate is for leopard tortoises? I have a female that normally lays about 11 eggs but only one third of them are fertile. Is that normal and if not what might the reasons be.
