: :Hi Joe, my oldest babies are 3 years old now, but I doubt that they will breed for a couple of years yet. The largest female is as big as the adult imports that are breeding for my now. Size isn't as important as age. The males have a tail that is easily 3 times as long as the female's tail. The males also seem to be smaller than the females.
Thanks for the reply. The reason I ask is I had a pair . The female
was 9.5 inches and the male 8 inches. They mated and I was able to get
2 to hatch. One is a little over 2 yrs. old. The other hatched in
June. The female died due to a shell infection. I've been looking
for a replacement. The ones I found are 4"and there appears to be alot
of discrepency as to what a female looks like. I've read that they
should be about 10 yrs. old and about 6" at breeding age. My 2 yr. old
is almost 4"!!(no pyramiding!)
Any more input would be appreciated!
Thanks Holly!
Joe
