Good advice all around here. I particularly like the carrot idea considering all tortoises seem to really like carrot and it is true that a fresh crunchy carrot will probably wear down the beak and nails.

: :You have been given very good advice! But I would like to add this- Russian tortoises don't do well in damp conditions. If your enclosure is too small the tortoise may knock over the water dish, or spend too much time wandering through it.
: As for foods, dandelion greens are great!! probably one of the most nutritious things you can give him. I also recomend going to your local supermarket and looking for pre-packaged salad mixes. They give you a wonderfull variety of greens and when feeding a russian tortoise variety is all important, I generally choose the salads that contain a variety of red colored greens. Greated carrots was mentioned and that is good, carrots are a natural de-wormer (they will help keep your tortoise worm free, but they are not an alternative to a Vet visit). Occasionally I put the carrots in my tortoise habitat whole so that it takes some effort for Skippy to eat them. This seems to wear down his beak, a good thing since his beak was starting to get too big.
: Final thought- Russian tortoises get really bored easily. It is good for there to be some large area they can wander filled with things they can climb on or crawl under.
