once again, nothing wrong with a fish tank. A 30 gal tank is fine for starters for a young Russian. As you 'get into it' you might want to consider what many folks call a 'turtle/tortoise table' It is nothing more than a wooden box. You can add legs or stack them like bunk beds (like I do). The point is they are easy (and cheap) to make and you can make them as big or small as you like. It's almost like putting them in a biiiiiig fishtank but the sides are usually lower to allow for better air circulation. While I say you can use a fishtank you do have to be careful of overheating. A temperature grade of 75 - 100 should be available and this is difficult in a small area. You do have water available for the little guy, don't you?

: I just bought a Russian Tortoise and have a 30 gallon tank w/reptile substrate, a full spectrum light, and a 100 watt invisible redish heat lamp. I also have a semi-large water wade thing, small food dish and a hiding area. The tortoise is about 5 inches. My question is what all do they eat??? They only told me lettuce. Also do i need the heat lamp cause they told me I did but the caresheet didn't mention it??????? Please help. Thanks.
