Hi Angie.
I would be careful puting the sweater box outdoors.
There is the possibility that it could get too hot in there, as it's quite a small,enclosed space.

But can you maybe tort proof the porch and allow them to roam about?
I really think that they need more room.
Maybe you could build an enclosure for them on the porch.
I would go at least 6'-6', but even bigger if possible.

I don't want to sound as though I'm lecturing or being mean, but life in a small sweater box doesn't sound too exciting.

If you can allow them time to wander around safely that's a good idea.
If you could provide a larger, more interesting enclosure too I think life would improve for the little torts.

Did you check out the web sites, a couple of them have enclosure photos.
Turtle Cafe shows both indoor and outdoor enclosures.Maybe the photos will help you come up with an idea for an enclosure that would work for you in the apartment or on the porch.

Something a bit bigger and more interesting for the tortoises to spend their time in.
