Living in Hawaii does have it's disadvantages.
Home depot only opened up last year!!
Seriously.

I would be feeding my sulcatas a bunch of bananas each a day, and still worrying over the white stuff, if not for my computer!

Hawaii is also home to a number of tortoise people, hobbyists like me frustrated that so few species can now be imported.
But also understanding that Hawaii's fauna and flora needs to be protected. Look at Guam, don't want that happening here.

We can't bring in a wide variety of species anymore.
But we are lucky that the climate allows our torts to live outdoors year round. If we moved to the mainland, that could change.

Hawaii is also home to specialists, some of whom keep species so rare that their group is the only one known to exist.

Also breeders who have vast collections (brought in before the species were banned)and absolutely wonderful set ups.
Acres and acres of land designed and landscaped with their tortoises and turtles well being the primary concern.
Hawaii's unique climate allows them to achieve this.
I've been lucky enough to be invited to such a place once, and was amazed.I wandered around in awe.
Galapagos, aldabra, redfoots, leopards, sulcatas, burmese browns, cuora. Aquatics, terrestrials. At least 20 different species. The landscaping designed so that the barriers between the vast enclosures melt in.Yet each area is designed for the particular species that inhabits it.
It truely looked as if all the different species are living together in a huge tortoise/turtle heaven!!
Yet each had it's own space with no mixing of species.
Amazing.

Marissa we plan to finaly leave Hawaii in a couple of years, maybe!
BUT, we'll be going back to Spain. Back to the remote town we came from, where even telephones are rare and butano heats the water and cooks the food!

So John might get lucky as I doubt I'd have my PC there.
He'll still have to wait a couple of years though.
As I'm stuck on the rock till then :)
