Hi, I believe the ones you're talking about are made
from pine. I have used these before for my tarantulas
and my geckos.
Basically the oils are the toxic part and these
woods are dried out large pieces of bark, so you're
not going to have fumes and all causing problems.
Keep it out of the water though.

Like Heather said, there have been questions coming
up about these, someone had their sulcata break a
leg by jumping off one. Another person posted that
their tortoise kept tumbling off and winding up
upside down.
You may want to consider this, there are other
things they can hide in such as a pile of hay or
carefresh.
Depending on what kind of tortoise you have, I
didn't see where you put it. Mine wouldn't fit
into any commercially available huts, they're too
small. He's got some made from hardwood trees we've
chainsawed out the middle of and made a half-log.
The picture is from last year, he's too tall to walk
under this and has a larger one now, but that's as
big as it's gonna get!
In his idoor pen we made a 3 sided tunnel from 3 boards.
That way there's not "climb-on" risks of falling.
