the first thing you should do i take your russian to the vet and have a fecal exam to check what parasites it might have, and also get dewormed.
i bought mine two years ago in the poor thing was infested with worms and a few other things including solmonila. so i would make sure you and your family wash your hands after handling your tort or anything it comes in contact with and you should be okay. look dwn this forumand you can find a few posts that have links on them. i don't remember them offhand. good luck with your little guy brian m
