: Hi!
: I'm was looking to buy a half log for my tort today at an online store. Some of the logs are made of cedar, and I know that cedar mulch is not safe. What about the logs? What kind of wood are the Zoo med habba huts made out? Thanks for all your help.

Hi,
Andy Highfiels recently spoke of crickets being put in with these little huts and the fumes from the wood being toxic (I think most are made of cedar but could be wrong- they always let me know! :)
Just to be safe, I would leave it outside in the sun for a few months or soak it in baking soda and water or a weak vinigar solution. Really they like to feel things up against them and mine prefer the real aged tree stup peices in their enclosure and ignore the hut.
take care,
tcc :)
