WOW! I live north of Jax and wish I had found them! I'm glad they have been rescued by you! Did you get them just to rescue them or do you plan to keep them? I have one pair of Russians and would love to have another. :-)

: Was in a petshop today north of Jacksonville Florida to get some mini crickets. In the back I saw a small 5 gallon tank with 2 very restless, very old looking russian tortoises. When I asked the lady about the russians, she told me that they were Asian Box Turtles.

: I'm not familiar with Testudo horsfieldii in the "hands on" sense, but I realized that they were in for trouble. I had her take them out and we inspected them, they seemed to be in excellent health, active, good body weight, even the scat had a firm consistancy.

: I gave her the $ 44.00 for the pair.

: Please visit the pictures I have taken about an hour ago and if you are an experienced keeper of the russian tortoise, shoot me an email about your opinions on what you see.
