Alot of people seem to be looking for a good beginner tort lately. I would like to stress how important it is for them to seek out a captive bred tort. There are many animals coming in wild caught. They tend to be cheaper than their captive bred counterparts, however this may be misleading. I would urge potential buyers to avoid wild caught animals. They should be left to experienced keepers looking to breed them. A novice should never consider buying a wild caught specimen. It is not fair to rob them or the world of the chance for them to reproduce. It is sad to see how we the people of the world treat our world and its inhabitants. We feel comfortable buying an animal that has been stolen from its native land and placed in our hands, for an insignificant amount of money. We freely, openly and sometimes proudly rape our natural world. Please leave russians, spiders, and the other flavor of the month torts alone, unless you are experienced and looking to breed them. Otherwise you are simply supporting the massacre that is importation. A vet visit may not ensure the health of your new pet, where as captive bred more often than not does.
