live? They aren't hardy at all. Mine died after 2 months. They have a small appetite too. I don't suggest them for beginners at all! Mine died because I had a power failure for 4 days in the winter and he died on pneaumonia. But he wasn't doing well anyways even if the power never went out. Unless you can provide them with almost yeasr round outdoors and live in an arid environemnt, I dont reccomend them at all. I would go with spider tort(s) as they are ghardier and eat better. they also enjoy humidity and are easier kept indoors.

my friedn breeds the egyptians(thats were I got my baby one from) and based on my experience with mine and from what he has obsered, they are'nt personable either! They really are shy and if you want something that doesn't stay in its shell for 20 hours a day.

Just my opinion. Let me know what you decide!
