: Hi folks, I have a 10inch and 7 inch Sulcata in a large outdoor pen-(we used wrought iron pool fencing.) Due to space limitations, one side of the pen is also the same side as the dogs kennel (they are only out they a couple hours total a week, not all day) Anyway, I knew Sulcatas dug, I just didnt know how much! The larger one (Atlas) dug under to the dogs side and the dogs met him 1/2 way! (I caught them just in time!) Any ideas what to bury and how deep? Atlas is about 8-10 inches deep right now, its been 104 degrees and I know its just what torts do but..I have chicken wire up now until I figure this out...) Thanks guys!
Hi I bet the heat is what turned them into such diggers. Good save by the way!
Two feet is usualy good enough.. The chicken wire will probably just stress them is there isnt a barracade where they cant see the other side.
Will you let us know how you wind up resolving this?
Have you tried leaving the sprinkler on the other side? They will often play in the mud and flick dirt on themselves to cool off.
