: I have heard that leopard tortoises are too shy to make good pets. I want one but I like to be able to enjoy my tortoise. Are they really that bad? Are sulcatas better. I onc had a sulcata and it wasn't very shy at all. Well, thanks for any help.
Hi John,
Keeping both species, its safe to say that like ppl they are all different.
I think it has much to do with how much you work with them too.
Its true that leops tend to be more shy but they have neat personalities.
Do you know someone who has larger animals that you can visit and get to know?
I have one girl leop who runs when she see's me. Another that lived with a family for eleven years before coming to live her, is very sweet and loves attention.
Hope that helps some.
tcc ;)
