Hey, Nathan,
: I just saw an ad for "albinistic" sulcata's. Outrageous price, but what was interesting is the use of "albinistic" instead of "albino" which they were clearly not. Sounds like a way of decieving folks into thinking they are getting a genetic albino when they are in fact getting a slightly off colored animal that may or may not stay that way.
Actually, have you seen the Ivory Sulcata in person? They are 100% absolutely different from what people are calling "high white", etc... The Sulcatas are indeed a white color overall. The eyes are not indicative of a "typical" albino, but they are not normal babies by any stretch. I would venture to say they are extreme examples of hypomelanism (albinistic by definition) or possible T+ albino. Why? The breeder has produced multiple babies successive years from the same two adults. I would bet that it's 99.99999% genetic when two "Ivory" Sulcata are bred together. I think the price is a bit high too, but it is in fact the only group like it in the world (as we know to date) and they are rare. So, if he gets the money, more power to him. That's a capitalistic society. Anyway, I thought I would share my view on the Ivory sulcata. They are VERY unusual animals...
