In Reply to: HELP!!!! Sulcata injury and advice needed!!!!! posted by Barry on April 28, 2001 at 19:11:11:
: My hatchling sulcata somehow got out of the kiddy pool enclosure (Even my larger ones can't get out!!) and wandered over to my dog that is tied up and got bitten into. He has 2 small holes on top and one on the bottom. No visible damage other than that but he seems to be dragging his hind legs a bit too. He is moving around and not lethargic. There is no blood, but where the punctures are, the shell is kinda poking in. What should I do?!?! Is this something that I can take care of without an unnessary vet vist?? I feel horrible!!! Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Hi Barry,
Did you get to a vet? How is your tort? Im worried about infection and would at minimum use antibacterial soap, diluted benadine or nolvasan to disinenfect. You would want to keep his body temp above 85-87 because this will boost his immune system and lessen the shock. Keep him in a dark quiet place.
Even if he makes it with out a vet visit, an infection could set in and you could loose him any way :(
Let us know how all goes.
