In Reply to: HELP!!!! Sulcata injury and advice needed!!!!! posted by Barry on April 28, 2001 at 19:11:11:
even if he is acting fine he could have suffered internal damage. You need to go to a vet immediately, NOW, not tommorrow. Find an emergency vet service in your area and ask if they have an exotics doctor on call. Find a vet immediately, one who knows tortoises, even if it means a long drive. Don't delay this. I don't want to alarm you but you could wake up tommorrow and your baby could be dead. Hatchlings are VERY fragile and delicate, which is ironic because they are capable of getting into all kinds of trouble. They can verticle climb like stuntmen, and they have an appetite for everything non-edible and their curiosity knows no bounds. GO TO A VET TODAY. Get x-rays done. You will be lucky if all he has is a broken leg.
My hatchling sulcata somehow got out of the kiddy pool enclosure (Even my larger ones can't get out!!) and wandered over to my dog that is tied up and got bitten into. He has 2 small holes on top and one on the bottom. No visible damage other than that but he seems to be dragging his hind legs a bit too. He is moving around and not lethargic. There is no blood, but where the punctures are, the shell is kinda poking in. What should I do?!?! Is this something that I can take care of without an unnessary vet vist?? I feel horrible!!! Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
