Vitamin D is a tricky vitamin. In order to be used properly in the body, we must convert it to vitamin D3. Our bodies do this naturally, but to do so we require UVB. Vitamin D3 adds in calcium absorption. Be sure your tortoise has access to UVB. I recommend using Zoo Meds Repti Sun 5.0 bulb. DO NOT USE human vitamins as a suppliment. They will not provide your tortoise with it's proper dosage of vitamins. Provide a reptile vitamin suppliment and a UVB light.
