: Hi Sarah,
: watch him closely and if it continues a vet visit would be a good idea.
: It could be a respiratory problem, even pnuemonia.
: Without seeing the tortoise, it's difficult to try and guess what's wrong.
: He may be gaping,a sign of respiratory probems.
: If so, this shouldn't be ignored and the tortoise should see a vet ASAP.
: Can you tell us how the tortoises are housed, substrate used, temperatues and diet?
: How long have you had the torts? And have they ever been to a vet?
: Did you recently add the other tortoise?
:
: My advise would be to watch him closely today. If it continues, get him to a vet ASAP.
: Also have the vet check inside his mouth,( which he/she should do anyway) to make sure nothing is stuck inside.
: Hope this helps.
: Terry.
Thats BS.. Why are people jumping into conclusions that whenever there is something that doesn't sound right, its respitpry infection. This behavior what you just is normal. My Testudo kleinmanni
makes the same noices. They wake up, stretch their necks and make a little purr sound and then they go on with their business.
