Hi! I'm new to the tortoise forum (only chelonian I have is a box turtle). I have a question about Galapagos tortoises. I saw an episode of the Crocodile Hunter, where Steve states that the Gal. tortoise they have at their zoo, was actually collected by Darwin himself, and brought to Australia sometime later. Now I already know that Gal. torts have extremely long lives, but I was wondering if anyone here knew any actual numbers on how many torts there are in captivity or on the islands currently that are old enough to have "known" Darwin. Looking forward to any replies on this :) ...
