Hi guys, well I want to toss this out - as you know I'm planning
Teddy's new pen for him when our new house is done soon.
Reading a current post just reminded me every time I see people
say they have such and such many acres of land, well yea but,
how much can be realistically fenced to be escape proof, not to
mention predator proof?

Just looking at current pics. and the adventures of several torts
on here, how wouold you do the fencing? We were thinking of using
those very heavy stacking/interlocking type of stones that they
sell as retaining walls, to make a low wall and lining it with
wooden boards, which also go down into the ground.
One long side of the pen is the house so he (shouldn't!) be able to
dig out on that side, nor on the side which borders a concrete
patio. This won't be predator proof though, at what size can
I stop really worrying about this??? There aren't going to be
racoons there like there are here. Some backyard will get privacy
fencing (though I don't forsee this as being escape-proof unless
we use a concrete base???-how deep?) My husband swears it will not
be a flimsy fence because he's going to install it himself.

I was going to plant the pen with hibiscus and geraniums (which
I already have in planters ready to go). Then he'll have his big
log and we'll make him a house - I'm not sure out of what, I was
thinking brick like the house is? The are is sloped slightly for
drainage and this time I'll have drains anyways (something his
current cheapy pen doesn't!).
