Question about Testudo's and Garden/Lawn Lime

I was in the local DIY store and I saw Garden and Lawn lime. I remember from Brian Pursall's book on Mediterranean torts that these species come from an area heavy in limestone. So, I thought, I have Hermanns, and the DIY has lime. Two great tastes that taste great together! Does anyone know of any reason why not to lay the lime down under the garden area in the tort pen?
