: : Hi.I have a Leopard Tortoise that is approx 3 years old and over the last couple of months I have noticed that his shell is starting to turn white around the scutes.
: : He is kept at about 75 deg with a 90 deg hot spot
: : He is fed on friut, veg.grass, flowers and commercial tortoise food
: : There is a uv light in with him that is on for 7 hours a day.
: : The only thing is that he has not hibernated this time because he was ill earlier in the year(pnumonia) and I wanted to make sure that he had made a full recovery so I kept him up this winter.
: : He is active and seems healthy enough and happy enough and he eats like a pig.
: : Can anyone help me because I am quite worried about his shell.
: : Cheers in advance from me(Mark) and him(Pastie)
: My thoughts....the pig is growing and the white is the area of new growth. Is the white area flaky? Both our sulcatas have that same white around their scutes. We rub gently with a soft wash cloth and warm water and the white(flakes)come off. My guess is he is ok.
