: : I have a Leopard tortoise approx 3 years old whose shell is turning white around the scutes.He is fed on fruit,veg,flowers,grass,commercial tortoise food, etc;
: : the temp is :around 75 deg ambient
: : :up to 90 deg in hot spot
: : He is given calcium supp,but not all that often.
: : There is a UV light in the tank that is turned on for about 7 hours per day and he seems happy enough(if a little unfriendly at times)
: : Can anyone give me some advise on what to do to stop him losing his colour and doing any damage to him.
: : thanks in advance from me(Mark) and him(Pastie).

: Hi Mark,
: Could this be new growth? Could if be that the newer growth is just coming in ligher?
: Mine are reserved most of the time as well.
: tcc :)

Sounds like normal growth to me. As long as it seems healthy and feeds normally I wouldn't worry about it. These leopards have been known to change their spots.

Tim
