: Hello, can anybody list some greens that I can buy from the grocery store which are healthy for torts? Thanks a lot for any feedback!

Believe it or not this simple question is very controversial on this forum. I'm not an expert but I've kept redfoot tortoises for a lot of years and have not had one die from a nutritional problem yet, so here's my answer. Collards, kale, mustard greens are fine, so are some of the lettuces (other than iceberg) but they are not as nutritious as the first three. Stay away from spinach and chard I personally don't think they are bad in small amounts but they cost to much anyhow. I think moderation and variation are the key. Of coarse the type of tortoise you are feeding will determine the type and amount of food you feed. But I think you can safely feed the first three greens I mentioned. Good luck,

Tim
