She thought she was doing adventure sports. She would climb up on her hidey log and jump off, over and over again. The LOVE to climb. Get something for a hidey that has smooth edges, NO traction, that they CAN NOT climb on. We replaced all climbing surfaces with a big stadium cup, hollowed on its bottom, so she could hide in and out on both sides. we filled its bottom with substrate and/or soft towel, and she would hide instead of climbing on the surfaces. She would still attempt to climb, but when we replaced the hidey-cup with a hollowed out box, the angles further deterred her climbing urges. To this day, we go with hollowed out boxes. They are disposable when they get pooped on, and fit nicely over the heat pads; if the pads are too hot, then we leave the bottom on the box. The log looks cute and all the stores sell them, but they climb on top of them and pretend to be hood ornaments.
: help!! my baby sulcata climbs on his hiding spot. i use a half/domed log house. (shaped how you would draw a rainbow) he always climbs on it, i think he's looking for food and ends up on his back upside down. does anyone have suggestions on hiding spots that torts cant climb and how much food should i be feeding my tort. how many times a day? when i feed him in the morning, he eats the whole dish of food (which is plenty) all at one time...then has nothing left for the rest of the day. how many "meals" should i be giving him? thnks for any help!!
