Don't use sand,
if ingested it can cause the tortoise to become impacted.
Also it doesn't offer good traction for him to walk on.
Please no sand.
Sulcatas are grazing herbivores.If you're going to put him outside build him an enclosure. Make sure there is grass and other edible landscaping for him to graze on. Sun and Shade.
