I just returned from the Pottstown, PA show where (amongst other things!) I acquired two Hingeback Tortoises. Yes, they are wild-caught and I already have an appointment for the vet. All the tortoises at the show were lightweight, so I chose the two who came out of their shell and seemed curious about their surroundings. I had them out on the lawn today and they both trucked around a bit with some confidence.
While we do the vet stuff, I would like to get some info from other folks experienced in acclimating wild-caught Hingebacks. Foods they seem to prefer, substrates to use, etc.
I've acclimated many lizards over the years, and was lucky that my Leopard Tortoise and Indonesian Box Turtle were both very well adapted when I got them. I'm sure these tortoises will be more challenging, so I would appreciate any help anyone can give.
Thanks!
