What would be a good first tort....more....

I'm looking to get into other things than snakes. I don't want a monster but something I could let roam around the snake room and not get lost. I would like something that is appealing to the eye and in the future easy to bred if I decide to do so. As for right now however I'm looking for a pet. I saw some cherry heads at the reptile show today but the guy wanted 700 for a pair and I thought that was a little high. I have seen red and yellow foots there as well. Spur thighs are everywhere but are just to big for me. Thanks for your time, Corey
