If you find a Greek the chances are it will be captive produced. they start at about 100 bucks. 125 is about average. If you find a Russian(which the odds are good right now) It will most likely be wild caught. They run starting at 25 up to about 50 bucks You can usually get a pair at the shows for 50 bucks. Look for sunken eyes and runny noses. Also look for fouler than normal feces (gross, I know) If you have a tort already you have an Idea of what normal is. You also want to look at weight. When you pick it up it should have the same weight as a same sized water balloon. Just to be clear, want to avoid crowded conditions and look for those bad signs. If you do pick up a pair there is usually a vet at the show to look at it for a nominal fee. (A russian or greek would be the way to go)(the russian has a better personality)(in my humble opinion)
Good luck.
Ed
