: COMMENTS PLEASE:
: I AM NURSING BACK TO HEALTH A FLORIDA GOPHER TORTOISE I FOUND IN BAD SHAPE ALONG THE ROAD IN SEPTEMBER...HE SEEMS TO BE DOING WELL-ABOUT THE SIZE OF A GOLF BALL NOW-(I KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO MAINTAIN THESE GUYS IN CAPTIVITY, SO I'M KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED)...HERE'S MY QUESTION...DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INSIGHT REGARDING ADDING A BABY BOX TURTLE OR TWO INTO THE GOPHER TORTOISE'S HABITAT...(THEY ARE ABOUT THE SAME SIZE, IF NOT SMALLER THAN THE GOPHER)HARMFUL? HELPFUL? I'M VERY INTERESTED IN ANY INPUT,PLEASE...
Hi Branden,
This is a protected and endangered species. I bet that you have a vet in your area who can refer you to a rehabber.
if you do expose this tort to any other species, it wont be eligable for any of the sanctuaries that the state has set up for them.
I encourage you to do the right thing by this animal so that he can eventually live with a colony of his kind.
Im pasting links that will help should you not opt for the route above.
take care,
tcc :)
