Also, DON'T keep it in water, keep it dry and at around 75-85 degrees, warm but not hot.
No meat for tortoises, you can feed it greens like romaine lettuce, escarole , endive etc.
Kep it out of any water, keep it dry and warm at least 75-80 degrees, but not too hot.
I'm trying to find somebody in California that can help you.
