: Hallelujah! Somebody understands! I think I love you! I've been against inbreeding for years because of its potentially detrimental effects on health and vigor. Too bad many breeders are to superficial to see this. They get so into the coolness of a hatchling with a new color scheme, they cannot see the larger picture anymore. SOme have become so egotistical as to consider themselves junior geneticists. All they really are, are a bunch of modern-day Dr. Frankensteins.
If all this were on one of the snake forums, we'd really get chewed out! Thankfully, turtle fans seem to have more heart on average. :)
: What a line of crapola! First, all offspring would carry the gene for albinism. Second, there is no "fix" here. You are only minimizing the level of inbreeding. Let's see: Richard Fife wants "Dad" to go out and knock up two different women. Then he wants the children of these two women (these children are half brother/sister in reality) to have sex with each other as a "fix" to help prevent inbreeding. Richard Fife's Tennessee style breeding philosophy probably speaks volumes about the genetic quality of his hatchlings. I wouldn't touch his hatchlings with a fortynine and a half foot pole.
: Richard Fife also says:
: "The problem with all this is that it will take quite a few years to come up with out-bred albinos."
: I'm sure Richard Fife will not be experiencing this problem. I'm betting he'll take the shortest route and breed whatever needs breeding with whomever to produce more of his great "product".
