Teresa,
any new tortoise you get should either be the same species ( bells hingeback) as the one you have. Or you will have to house the two seperately.
You should NOT mix species.
So if you do get a tortoise of a different species, if MUST be housed in a seperate enclosure and should never come into contact with your hingeback.
If you choose another hingeback of the same species, it should be quarantined for at least 90 days. No contact with the tortoise you already have during the quarantine period.
