Just wanted to share today's experience. Had a visitor today and
I was showing her Teddy, who happened to be inside for a while,
he waited a while before coming to my hands to get picked up,
to go outside. Then outside I let the girl pet him (his shell)
and yes she washed her hands with soap afterwards. Well, he was
OK with her petting his shell but not his head, he kinda tucked
in and waited. Then I picked him up and when he saw me he came
right back out. My husband and son can pick him up and so
can my brother, mom or dad who live in this area that we visit.
He stays out of his shell, no problem. I really think he recognizes
people, and because this was a new person he'd never seen and
I was out of sight he was a bit leary. I suppose that's good,
don't want to be overly friendly and get tort-napped. Also
whatever room we're in he's in there too making himself nosey.
Nothing usually phases him outside and he's very bold, the only
thing he hates is the big yellow school bus when it comes
barreling down our street if he's out front. He always tucks
in slightly and stops when it goes by. He's under close
supervision of course. I'm trying to teach him not to go
on the street (black asphalt) he's not bad about that, he'll
stay on the grass and walk up the street with me, not too
slowly anymore either like when he was even punier than he is
now! lol! later, niki
