: I had a friend find this turtle/tortoise. I think it might be some sort of asian box turtle, but I am not sure. It is about 10 inches long. A brown color, fairly flat shell. The back edge of the shell is slightly serrated, with a v notch in the center of the back. The plastron is yellowish with brown blotches. It does not have a hinged plastron. I am trying to attach a picture, hopefully this works. Everytime I try to take a pic it retreats back into its shell.

I looks like some type of slider to me. The older they get the more plain they are. Was it found in water? How big is it? Any other coloring on the head? You might try posting that photo on the RES board. If it's an aquatic turtle, you may have more luck there. Good luck.
