: What is SCL (straight carpace length) I have always thought it was the 'lenght of the turtle' but does this include the hump? would one measure the SCL with a string from front to back on top of ( a possibly greatly rounded form ) the turtle/tortoise, or would one measure the plastron (underside) of the tortoise (this would suit the word 'straight' more than a carpace measurement no?) if so why wouldn't the term be SPL (plastron).
: Thanks in advance

It is a straight line measurement from carapace end to carapace end (not over the hump). Since the carapace is longer than the plastron it is a better measurement of over all length.
