Actually, the primary use of cuttlebones is to provide an additional source of calcium.
: : I'm not sure, but I think this is also one of the reasons why many keepers recommend leaving a piece of cuttlebone in with tortoises; that gnawing on it can help wear down the beak. Is that right, anyone?
