If you are using a dog house, they will probably do better under it than in it. Digging is the key. Mine live under my 8X8 tuff shed. Getting under ground gets then out of the hear best. They use a small heat lamp in the shed in the winten, but I know several people here that let them live outside in the winter with no heat and they do fine.
